Sappiamo tutti quanto siano importanti le api, per gli apicoltori e non solo.
Purtroppo, però, la vita di questi utilissimi insetti è in costante pericolo.
Tra le problematiche che colpiscono le api ci sono:
- La Varroa
Una patologia endemica, ossia un acaro parassita che vive sul corpo delle api e delle larve, nutrendosene.
E’ originario dell’isola di Giava e provoca diversi disturbi alle api, come ali deformi e conseguente difficoltà di volo, riduzione di api nell’ alveare e moria.
Colpisce il 100% degli alveari e ogni apicoltore combatte contro questo problema con trattamenti mirati più volte durante l’anno,
- La Vespa Velutina
Chiamato anche Calabrone asiatico o Calabrone dalle zampe gialle, questo insetto è arrivato in Europa intorno al 2005 ed è originario del Sud-Est asiatico.
E’ simile al comune calabrone, ma più piccolo e più scuro.
E’ una specie molto aggressiva per l’uomo, ma soprattutto per le api, di cui si ciba.
In Francia è causa del 50% della distruzione di alveari;
in Italia è già arrivata fino alla Toscana e nei dintorni di Genova.
Per combattere questo killer che minaccia anche la biodiversità del territorio, si stanno studiando diverse soluzioni, tra cui trappole e inserimento di altri insetti che possano combatterlo.
- I pesticidi
Le api, come tuti gli impollinatori sono molto sensibili ai pesticidi che alterano il loro habitat e le indeboliscono.
Esse non muoiono al contatto con il veleno, ma lo portano nel nido;
così verrà accumulato insieme polline e nettare per alimentare le larve.
A questo problema l’unica soluzione plausibile è provare a trasformare un’ agricoltura intensiva in una più sostenibile.
- I Cambiamenti climatici
Ultimo, ma non meno importante è il caos climatico che, a causa dell’uomo, sta affliggendo tutta la Terra.
La siccità e l’ elevato calore sono una vera piaga le nostre amate api.
Cosa possiamo fare noi, nel nostro piccolo?
La risposta la conosciamo già, ne siamo a conoscenza da tempo.
Ognuno di noi può contribuire.
Non solo per le api, ma per noi stessi.
